Margaret W
in Great Blakenham
Hi, I don't know if people are aware that planning application has been submitted to build an Industrial site on farmland along Paper Mill Lane, Claydon, between the Travel Inn and The Grade 2 Listed Mockbeggars Hall. The application s for 18 units, ... [ more ]
Nadine H
Do we really need more industrial units when there are already several empty units at the 5 other industrial parks in Claydon and Gt Blakenham?

Nadine H
This is great news. I have been looking for somewhere convenient to recycle textiles since fortnightly doorstep collection ceased. Most other recycling banks only take reusable clothes which I always give to charity. Glad to help the school at the ... [ more ]

Northern Bypass Routes

Susan H
in Castle Hill
Well, I've just been looking at the proposed Northern Bypass Routes announced today and despite the fact they say they've used a 'broad brush' to avoid blighting any properties, I think it is pretty obvious it's not possible to take another road off ... [ more ]
Nadine H
Whilst I understand their reasons for using a 'broad brush' approach they could have at least put some of the village names on the map or marked the junction numbers. Considering two of the proposed routes start in Claydon they should have marked the ... [ more ]

Barham Housing (or the politics of persuasion)

Not K in Henley
I cannot be alone in thinking that I am being manipulated, and I have two options; one to just ignore the situation and blame the system or I can have an uphill battle and try to do something about it. We have a housing development process that ... [ more ]
Nadine H
Whilst I agree with many of your comments, shouldn't we wait and see what the plans look like at the meeting next week before getting upset about it.   When I moved just around the corner from this development land 12 years ago I assumed that one day ... [ more ]
Nadine H
As Lisa H said, I am sure many people, like me, are waiting for the planning application to be submitted before taking further action. Until then there is little that can be done. The developers have already held a public meeting which many people ... [ more ]

Can anyone provide an update on the discussions held at the parish council meet? I was unable to attend but I am assuming that nothing useful was said or someone would have posted by now.

Rubbish dumping

Stella C in Claydon
Ok Scum-bag This is to the person that drove part the way down the no-through-rd off Claydon Church Lane in your car today at 13.42 to dump the contents of your plant pots in the ditch. You were seen, we have your details. You have until Monday 9am ... [ more ]
Nadine H
I wanted to take an old king size mattress to the dump. My dad kindly offered to come and get it in his trailer on Wednesday. As we were on our way to Stowmarket (thought it would be quicker at this time of year than Ipswich) I suddenly remembered ... [ more ]

Fire service cutbacks

Joanna A in Ipswich Town Centre
I've just been listening to a BBC radio programme about the effects cuts on the fire service have had. Suffolk was cited as having one of the biggest increases in the country for response times. Average time to reach a call out before the cuts was 10 ... [ more ]
Nadine H
Perhaps it's just me but I really cannot understand why, when the population keeps increasing and therefore the amount of income tax collected is rising, we keep cutting the fire, police and ambulance services. Surely there should be a year on year ... [ more ]

Street Lights

Stuart P in Claydon
So the parish council have decided to leave street lights on all night as we no longer have "plastic plod" in Claydon. http://claydonandbarham.onesuffolk.net/news/street-lights/ How often did he patrol during the hours of darkness anyway? Another ... [ more ]

School Parking

John W in Claydon
School parking is a problem. The parents come in from surronding area and park in York Crescent and surrounding area. This then becomes a problem for people in these areaes. Can anything be done to stop this.
Nadine H
I have noticed that the situation is getting worse again, particularly on rainy days.  Cars are parking on the pavements, on the double yellow lines, on the single yellow lines (at un-permitted times) and just about anywhere they can.  It makes my ... [ more ]
Nadine H
Someone i know who works for mid suffolk planning once told ne that if the development exceeds 600 houses then a new school has to be provided. I am therefore expecting the council to recommend that the development exceeds this level in order to get ... [ more ]
Nadine H
He told me that was because each development in Gt Blakenham was below 600 houses and so they only had to pay into the education fund rather than building a school. It is because of the mistakes made in Blakenham that i think they will push for over ... [ more ]

Do anyone know whether this this true or not that frankies and bennies are closing their restaurants at all.

Asda trolley's

$ Asda trolley’s all parked together in Stoke park drive, it is the same chap that takes them isn't there any cctv or security to stop this ?

Does anyone else think that the road noise from the A14 is getting worse, or is it that with summer amd windows open it is just more apparent?

I too think that the road noise is getting worse. It certainly seems worse than when we moved here 11 years ago. My husband now cannot sleep when the windows are open and I have even had to shut them some nights so the children can get to sleep. The ... [ more ]

Just because there are only a few people commenting on a subject does not mean there are not more out there listening and agreeing with the views of others. I am very interested in the nbp debate but do not feel I have anything to add to the ... [ more ]
Nadine H
I had always assumed that any NBP would have to start at the A140 junction, I hadn't even considered the Asda junction.  Could his work?  It would stop Claydon and Barham feeling enclosed by dual carriageways and would protect the scenic routes ... [ more ]
Nadine H
Watchfull - it is the first time I have heard anyone suggest a junction here rather than the a140. The route would certainly be shorter but it looks like it would run straight through the middle of Witnesham where my mum and dad live, much of which is ... [ more ]

Claydon Road Closure

Cycle hire

Hi all, Just wondering if anyone knows of anywhere you can hire a bike and cycle? I know there are a couple of national trust places in Norfolk where you can do so, but being new to the area I wasn't sure if there was anywhere similar in the local area?
