Sustainability
Sustainability is at the heart of the Streetlife Collection. We use simple but elegant modular building blocks with long lifespans and choose materials sourced fairly and responsibly to minimise the impact on the environment. All these conscious design decisions make a significant contribution to product sustainability and quality.
Streetlife Design Team
We are designers, which makes us true problem solvers. How do we implement projects of the highest quality with the lowest environmental impact?
Sustainable design
Innovation and creativity are the cornerstones of progress. However, in this day and age where we all need to drastically reduce our impact on the environment. Sustainability must be an integral part of the creative process. Our street furniture conveys a timeless, natural style and is of a very high quality, both aesthetically and technically. By selecting the right designs and materials, we reduce the amount of maintenance required while extending the lifespan of our products. At Streetlife, modularity and smart disassembly are central to our designs. If a product is damaged, parts can easily be replaced and the natural materials can be reused or recycled. But smart design solutions do not just offer ecological benefits. Due to their very long lifespan, our products also represent an extremely astute economic investment.
Sustainable materials
The distinctive image of our products is defined by the materials we use. While colour and texture are important, choice of material is also determined by maintenance and durability. Many of the materials Streetlife uses can be returned to the production chain at the end of a product’s lifespan: they can be recycled or reused or are made from bio-based composites. Waste is thus minimised. Moreover, Streetlife sources its materials sustainably and our FSC® certification ensures that only hardwood from responsibly managed forests is used.
Our sustainable materials:
- FSC® wood/timber
- Recycled materials
- Upcycled wood
- Bio-based composites
- Corten steel
The TWIN Concept
Innovations in the field of sustainable materials, including biobased substances and composites made from residual waste, provide a wealth of opportunities to make the Streetlife Collection more sustainable. After many years of research and development, we have now introduced our TWIN concept, a series of materials that form a fully-fledged alternative to hardwood. By adding this new identity to our product families, TWIN offers landscape designers and architects more freedom of choice.
Take-Back Programme
At Streetlife, sustainability does not end with the delivery of products or spare parts for repairs. We enable our customers to return our products at the end of their life cycle.
By taking back used components, such as recycled beams (All Black, Cloudy Grey or Lava Grey) and standard metal components, we can reintroduce these into the production chain. This way we reduce waste, save resources and work together with our customers to build a circular economy. Our work goes further: even before the end of the product’s lifespan is reached. We focus on extending the lifetime of our products through repair and replacement of parts, so they remain in use for longer.
